My Review:
Reviewed by Laura Fabiani

When I eagerly cracked open Jae Ellard's book, I was surprised to find that each page was only filled with a few sentences. It made me curious. As I began to read it, I automatically reached for a pencil and began jotting down notes right on the pages. That's because every word written in this book is meaningful. It will make you reflect. It will confirm truths that we know but do not always acknowledge or have even thought of.

Honestly, this book is all about reflection and introspection . Finding balance in one's life seems elusive but as Ellard states, " Acknowledging and accepting accountability for your needs, wants, and desires is your secret power." She goes on to explain what that means. Because of the universal statements she makes, this book can be read by anyone and it will be applicable.

The best part about this book is that you do not have to read pages and pages of a thick book and highlight its gems. Instead, you have all the gems, each one stated clearly on each page. You can use this book as a workbook, as I have done, to jot down your thoughts as you read and meditate on what's being said. Clearly, if you are interested in what this book is about as evidenced by its title you will be moved to conscientiously think about the five truths Ellard states about work-life balance.

I learned a lot about myself reading and reflecting on this book. It made me clearly see why I lack balance in some areas of my life. At one point I wished there was more said in the book, but then I realized that just working on what I read was enough for me. This book does not overwhelm. It makes statements about what the author has discovered to be true about work-life balance and allows you, the reader, to choose what to do about it.

Highly recommended for anyone feeling even just a bit unbalanced in life.
