Sunday Post, Sunday Salon, Mailbox Monday and It's Monday What Are You Reading? Jan 17 Edition

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share our news. A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Sunday Salon hosted by Readerbuzz is simply a place for us to link up and to share what we have been doing during the week. Sunday Salon is a great way to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.

So Quebec is once again the epicenter of Covid-19 in Canada. The curfew, however, seems to be going well. Our numbers are starting to diminish. Because I work in healthcare and with seniors I was offered the vaccine. I was vaccinated on Thursday. The side effects that I felt were a sore arm and fatigue.

It's snowing this weekend. A heavy wet snow...you know the kind that's hard to shovel. But without snow, winter can be long. At least the kids can go out to sled and the adults to ski. I like to take long walks trudging through the snow by the river.

Hope you are all well. Stay safe and take care of each other.

Mailbox Monday Edition

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Mailbox Monday now has a permanent home on its blog. Link up to share your MM.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever-growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

What I reviewed and/or featured last week:

This was a  good historical fiction novel set in Scotland during WWI.

I list my bookish and non-bookish goals for the year. So far I'm sticking to them and this has made my blogging more organized.

I spotlight a book that has caught my attention. I like making my own beauty products but sometimes I don't know where to start. Check out the trailer and you will be inspired!

This is an important book that would be an essential addition to any home, school or community library.

  2. I'm terribly glad you have been able to get your vaccine. You are in the groups that should be given the vaccine first. And I'm very glad your side effects were minimal.

I've experienced snow a half a dozen times in my life, and all of those times have been pure delight. Perhaps snow is different if it is a frequent experience though.

Dear Brave Friend and Village Shop both look like promising reads.

I hope you have a good week.

  3. The Secret Diaries looks good...and so does The Village Shop. I am glad you had minimal side effects with the vaccine, too, and that your job gave you the opportunity to get the vaccine now.

Enjoy your week and your books. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. I am glad to hear you got your first dose of the vaccine. My parents got theirs a couple days ago. It's amazing how differently each country is handling all this. A curfew sounds like it would help our southern California numbers, which are astronomical.

    1. I hope the vaccine will meet or even exceed our expectations. It seems curfews work but they are not easy to implement.

  5. I'm so happy to hear you got your vaccine. I think we need more curfews but people are stupid. We just stay home anyway so it doesn't matter if there is one or not. The snow is so pretty and I love to ski. I used to go every weekend in Minnesota. Here we only get snow a day or two a year which I'm ok with it now Happy reading!

  6. It snowed here too but not the heavy stuff, just some pretty light flakes falling this morning. It was nice. Sorry to see Quebec is getting hit hard w/ Covid. Congrats on the vaccine though, hope the side effects aren't too unpleasant.

    Take care this week!

  7. Hopefully the vaccine will make a huge difference in a short amount of time.
Scotland is an unusual setting for a WWII novel, that piques my interest.

Wishing you a great reading week

  8. I am glad to hear numbers are going down in your area. I am sure the vaccine will help some with that. I am glad too that you were able to one. I have an appointment this week to get my first shot (because of my job). I've heard mixed experiences in terms of side effects among my coworkers who have already gotten the first shot, so we'll see how it goes. Hopefully mine will be minor, if anything at all.

Your new review books all sound good! I like the cover of Dear Brave Friend. Beauty Among Ruins sounds really good! I'll have to look for it.

I hope you enjoy your week! Take care and stay safe!

  11. It sounds like things are at least turning a corner in terms of Covid-19. That's not the case here. At least you got your vaccine...that's great!

  14. Nice looking bunch of books. We had a little snow this week too. I'm still waiting until it's time for my group to get vaccinated. It seems Minnesota is being a bit slow about it. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  17. hey we could use snow here too in Western Canada -- everything has been melting away for weeks ... and we need snow! There continues to be nothing in the forecast, argh. I am glad you got the vaccine -- and that your seniors are safe. I'm still hoping to get the vaccine for my parents in the States. Happy Reading.

    1. No snow yet in Alberta? That's rare indeed. But be careful what you wish for. LOL :-)

  18. Here's hoping that the numbers in Quebec continue to come down! It's such a relief when they do!

  19. My husband just got his second dose last week. His main complaints both times were the sore arm and fatigue and a bit of a headache. We kept hearing that the side effects from the second shot were worse but that hasn't been the case for him. If anything, the fatigue was a little less. I'm glad you were able to get yours!

    Enjoy your week!

  20. I'm glad you got the vaccine. We had snow here too, but nothing like Québec - it was all gone the next day. The vanishing of Loxby manor looks good. Enjoy your week :)
