Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Take Place In Another Country

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. 10 is just a suggestion to aim for if you can hit it. You can do a list of 3 or 5 or 20, whatever you decide. And you can put a spin on the topic if you need to. Each week there is a new list to create. This week the topic is:

Books That Take Place In Another Country

I love travelling through books, so when stories are set in a different country I am drawn to explore them. The following are books I recently read that take place in another country. I actually have a page on this blog listing books that I read that are set in other countries, but I haven't updated it in such a long time. This post reminded me it's time to get that done.

Part of this memoir takes place in India.

This mostly takes place in Arezzo, Italy.

This takes place in post-WWII Vienna, Austria.

This one takes place across Canada, including a stopover in my city of Montreal.

A touching refugee children's story that takes place in Syria

This one takes place in Paris, France during WWII.

This one takes place in Greece.

This one takes place in the mountains of Albania in early 1900.

This one takes place mostly in the exotic Casablanca, Morocco.

This one too takes place in an exotic setting: Istanbul, Turkey.

  2. Such a nice variety of locations! Paris during or around the time of WWII (or anytime really) is always a winner, and I don't think I've read a book set in Austria. Greece and Italy would be fabulous as well.

  3. It is so neat to see other countries through books. I'd love more from Italy :)
