With a hashtag in its title, this book deals with a topic that the Millennial mom will appreciate. Parenting in the age of technology. Narrated from the point of view of the child, this book shows a close relationship between a mom and her toddler as they spend their day together in activities such as reading, painting and playing. In addition, the mom takes pics of these activities and they share it online with friends.

But, the child is curious and when mommy isn't looking, he takes the phone and starts to play with it. When the mom discovers this, she makes him understand that the phone belongs to her and is not for play. Then she puts him on her lap and looks through the pics on her phone at the memories they've made together. Finally, they put the phone down and play together.

The message is clear. Spending time together with your child is important and having a handy gadget such as a phone can be a part of that to quickly and easily record the moments, but it needs to be put away so that the child can have a parent's full attention. Reminders such as these are important because unfortunately we have become a society that is continually plugged.

Today's children are lightening quick in learning how to use phones and tablets and can easily become too engrossed in them. There is also the danger of stumbling on inappropriate content on the web. Toddlers, especially are super curious about these gadgets and will want to play with them. I see it in my own children and that of my sister who has a toddler. I would go as far as not only putting the phone down but putting it in another room altogether so as not to tempt mother or child when they are engaged in an activity together.

It was refreshing to see this topic explored in a children's book targeted to toddlers and today's generation of young parents. The illustrations are simple but bright, colorful and bold, suited to this age group. The rhyming narrative written in large font flows well and has a great variation in tone, making it fun to read. This is an interesting series for tech-savvy parents and their kiddies.
