Mailbox Monday (10)

As I eased my car into the driveway last Friday afternoon, I looked up to see a package sticking out of my mailbox. What did I receive? A book that I hope will give me some insight. By the way, this meme is hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page. You should check out her blog and see what others have received and to play along.

I have long heard of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and I have even tried it once. It is a technique that has helped to cure many ailments naturally. Since I'm a big fan of homeopathy and natural medecine, this book highly appealed to me.

EFT for the Highly Sensitive Temperament by Rue Hass

Book Description:
Are you very sensitive to your own feelings and the feelings of those around you? Do you get overwhelmed by external stimuli, such as crowds, loud sounds and hectic environments? Are you deeply affected by the beauty of art, literature, music and nature? Do you get stressed easily? Do you suffer from feelings of inadequacy and sadness? Do you always seek deep and meaningful relationships? If so, you may have a highly sensitive temperament (HST). HSTs are a recently-recognized personality type and face many challenges in a world that is full of overwhelming stimuli. Yet HSTs can learn to survive and be successful. The breakthrough techniques of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) are a powerful resource for HSTs. They teach you how to immediately and routinely reduce the intensity coming at you, how to set personal guidelines that work for you. EFT for the Highly Sensitive Temperament is an invaluable survival guide for HSTs, their loved ones and their families. It shows how to turn sensitivity into a gift for yourself and the world.

Have any of you tried EFT?

  5. It seem to me the "highly sensitive temperament" individual is describing the successful writer whose creativity is easily harnessed from this hypersensitive state of being. What is easily overlooked by the "normal" individual" shouts out to the artist in his/her heightened awareness of the surrounding environment. The HST writer is thus able to enlighten others in words or paintings. But the double edged sword is that this same state can foster alienation, fear of the environment aka agoraphobia, and generalized anxiety. Is it no wonder then that many successful writers and artists in general have led tumultuous lives and their path to alleviating HST has not been EFT but rather a generous supply of drugs, namely alcohol.
