Top Ten Tuesday: Resolution/Hopes for 2021

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. 10 is just a suggestion to aim for if you can hit it. You can do a list of 3 or 5 or 20, whatever you decide. And you can put a spin on the topic if you need to. Each week there is a new list to create. This week's topic is:

Resolution/Hopes for 2021

Bookish Goals:

1. Read 100 Books
Last year I read almost 80 books and I know that I could reach a goal of 100 because I plan on listening to more audio and reading more children's books.

2. Add my reviews to Goodreads
I haven't always been consistent in doing this and then I'm caught scrambling at the end of the year. This year I'm posting my review on other sites as soon as it's published on my blog. No more procrastinating.

3. Read all books in my NetGalley account
I have 7 books currently on my shelf, 4 of which are for upcoming tours and 3 are overdue reviews.

4. Participate in the challenges I signed up for
Nonfiction Challenge, A to Z Reading Challenge, and my personal ones: I Love Italy Reading Challenge, Time Travel Reading Challenge and Reading the World Challenge

5. Read more books from my personal shelf
I have too many books! Books that I've been wanting to read and that I sometimes forget I own. Time to change that and start digging in my own bookshelves to find my next read.

6. Prepare my posts ahead of time
When I manage to do this, blogging is less stressful regarding deadlines. So I want to be more consistent about prepping my posts.

Non-Bookish Goals:

1. Get more sleep
I want to establish a better sleep routine which consists of being in bed at 10 pm so that I am asleep by 11. It's a hit and miss with me so this goal is priority.

2. Continue intermittent fasting
I've gained some weight during the fall with the lockdown and not being as active as usual. Intermittent fasting helps me to feel better and to lose weight.

3. Cut down on my sugar intake
I'm already pretty good with this but I know I can do better.

4. Exercise more
Getting on my bike and getting a good cardio is easy in the summer but not as easy when the weather is cold. Besides walks I've been negligent and need to work out more.

How about you?
Do you like to set resolutions or goals to start off your year?

  1. I could have written this list (but I didn't, you did!) as so many of these goals are what I SHOULD be doing. :-) I own way too many books (but can't stop myself from getting more), I always think about putting reviews on Goodreads then don't, and I often don't finish the challenges I sign up for. Sigh

Over the past year I've done well on the exercise and eating better (partly by doing intermittent fasting), but it's something I don't love to do.

  2. Apparently, I need to make some goals! Since I frequently forget about what I've read, I find that adding things to my blog and Goodreads is really crucial. I walk to work, and since the students have been remote, I've taken great joy in having a key to the school track and getting out of the building at lunch to go there. Whatever motivates you-- good luck!

    1. Smart idea to go out on the track at lunch time. Getting fresh air and walking are good goals.

  3. Exercising more and cutting down on sugar are great goals. I'm also trying to do them!

    My post.

    1. They are also my toughest goals. I need to break them down to be able to accomplish them.

  4. Hi Laura! Preparing my posts ahead of time... I try soooo hard to get that done, but gosh - it just doesn't happen!!! I know there isn't much hope in saying I'll do it this year. With work and everything, it's just a tad difficult.

Sugar intake! Sugar - the ultimate comfort drug! I've learned that if I start my day by not taking in any sugar, it's better. But if I have sugar early in the morning, it's a lost cause.

I hope you get to stick to all your goals and I also think you can read 100 books!

    1. I know it's hard for me to because I work full-time, but I'm trying to be more conscientious about it so it diminishes my stress. You're right about the sugar intake. ;-)

  5. Great list! I'm also trying to read 100 books this year, as well as preparing my posts ahead of time. Let's hope we both meet these goals!

    1. I think we can both reach our goals if we set out minds firmly on them!

  6. I definitely need to get better at crossposting my reviews to Goodreads, I always forget and then have to do it in big batches.

  7. All great goals, both bookish and non-bookish! I also definitely want to sleep more and exercise more, and prepare my blog posts ahead of time. Good luck with all of these!

  8. I'm the same with sugar. Intermittent fasting is something I'd like to look into as well. Good luck with all of these! I'm hoping to get back to posting ahead as well.

  9. I'm working full-time, too, and wish I had more time for reading and blogging. Your resolutions sound like ones I could have written, too. I always think I should try to prepare posts ahead of time and schedule them, but I very rarely actually do it that way. It's hard to stay on top of everything -- exercise, diet, blogging, reading, household chores, family time, etc. -- even as an empty-nester!
