Sunday Post, Sunday Salon, Mailbox Monday and It's Monday What Are You Reading? Oct 18 Edition

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share our news. A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Sunday Salon hosted by Readerbuzz is simply a place for us to link up and to share what we have been doing during the week. Sunday Salon is a great way to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.

I started my week with good energy on Monday but it quickly fizzled out by Friday. It's the weather change. I really don't want winter to come. I'm reluctantly going through my fall clothes wishing I could still be wearing my shorts. Sigh. I think I'm in denial.

I watched The Trial of the Chicago 7 (based on the infamous trial of 1969) which I thought was well done. Not much has changed in 50 years. Despite the serious topic it had some laugh-out-loud moments. Seems like the year 1969 (my birth year) was pretty memorable.

Hope you are all well. Stay safe and take care of each other.

Mailbox Monday Edition

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Mailbox Monday now has a permanent home on its blog. Link up to share your MM.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever-growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

What I reviewed and/or featured last week:

This children's book is about a beautiful little girl named Rosie who suddenly loses her hair because of the disease alopecia. Such a lovely book!

This is a compelling read and one of the best books I've read this year.

  4. I will be reading My Hair Went on Vacation as soon as I can find a copy, as it was nominated for the Cybils.

Thanks for the hearty recommendation of The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. I think I will add it to my wish list.

I long for a little winter here. We had to run our air conditioning today.

    Have a great week!

  5. Yes the Book Woman of Troublesome Creek was so good and I loved it via audiobook. I don't mind winter really, even though we will soon face summer.

    1. I haven't shopped for any fall outfits because of the pandemic. I think I need a few winter sweaters, though!

  11. Summer is peeking around the corner for us and we've had a couple of nice spring days last week. Hopefully it will become more! I also don't like winter and I'm really glad it's almost done.

Love the cover and title for The gentleman and the thief.

    Have a wonderful week!

  13. Book covers with headless women in pretty dresses are so popular! I wonder if there is a psychology to them - like they allow the reader to imagine what the character looks like but see the dress? Is there something about that?

    1. Mmmm...you got me thinking there Gillian. It's marketing so it's thought through quite well, I'm sure.

  14. Nice looking books! I too am not looking forward to winter either. I did go through my closets and drawers to get rid of clothes that don't fit. I have someone coming this afternoon to pick them up. She has a reselling business and will try get something from them. All I want is for them to be gone from my guest bedroom. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  15. I like fall (for the colors) but not the cold. I miss wearing shorts and summer weather too. Hope you have a great new week and stay well!

I love the look of The Gentleman and the Thief.

  16. I’m also not very excited for winter. I spent the whole summer trapped in the house, and now it’s going to snow, so I can’t even hang out in the yard. Enjoy your new books. Have a great week!

  18. It was cold for my office staff and me in Denver and Boulder this weekend. We aren't used to under 50.
You keep getting books that I like. Maybe they will help take your mind off the coming weather. Stay safe and Happy Reading!
