Sunday Post, Mailbox Monday and It's Monday What Are You Reading? Jan 15 Edition

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

So the weather's been...shall we say, schizophrenic, here in Montreal. We went from Arctic -30 degrees F with tons of snow to 50 with pouring rain. We just had another snowstorm yesterday and got another 30 cm of snow with temps plummetting once again to -16 F. All this has caused havoc on our streets in the form of potholes, some so big they look like a portal to another dimension.

Besides this, kids are back in school with the stress of upcoming exams and science projects. I swear, my hubby and I feel like we're back at school. Thank goodness for escapism through books! Watched Guardians of the Galaxy too. It was funny and surprisingly touching with a heart-tugging ending.

Mailbox Monday Edition

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Mailbox Monday now has a permanent home on its blog. Link up to share your MM.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever-growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

What I read and/or featured last week:

CAST: Art and Objects Created Using Humanity's Most Transformational Process by Jen Townsend and Reneé Zettle-Sterling (Review) Captivating art book with stunning photography, helped me to appreciate the work of craftpeople

The Antelope Play by Boyd Taylor (Book #2 in the Donnie Ray Cuinn series) Review and Giveaway
This was just as good as the first book. I'm loving this series.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn't Get To (and totally plan to get to in 2018!!) Compiling this list made me aware of how many awesome books I own and need to get reading!

  2. It's been crazy weather here too though not as cold as where you are. Down on the Gulf coast it's barely above freezing right now. Got to the 70s last week but another winter vortex dipped down here and going to be very cold all week again. I long for spring:) Snuggle in and enjoy those books!

  3. Ooh, I'm shivering here just reading about the cold there...and I applaud your solution of curling up to read.

I am curious about Waking Isabella. Enjoy your books and your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. Your temps are a lot colder than here, jeez. Weather is crazy everywhere, don't know why. But, I am ready for Spring to get here. I am planning on getting back in my bed with a book and some hot chocolate and read for the rest of the day. We should hit 16 degrees at some point today, so no going outside for me. ;) Have a great week and stay warm.

  5. "portal to another dimension" lol. So true! It's been cold here too but I think you've had it worse than us.

I thought Guardians of the Galaxy was pretty fun. :)

  6. Wow, your weather seems even worse than ours! We had a few inches of snow, then 3 days later it went to 70!Strange times... stay safe.
You do have quite the different and eclectic stack of books-- glad to be a new follower!

  7. Some days it feels like I'm back in school too. Your weather has been all over the place! It was 80F here yesterday, which was nice--but more suitable for spring. I hope we get more rain soon. I love Guardians of the Galaxy. :-)

Looks like you got some good books! I hope you enjoy them, and enjoy your current reading. Have a great week!

  8. Our weather's been the same way but with warmer temperatures. Still, it feels frigid to us. I'm happy that we haven't had any snow so far.

    Happy reading!

  9. The weather hasn’t been great here, either. It was warm today, but it’s going to snow tomorrow. Basically, it's just icy all the time. Have a great week!

  10. We've had the frigid temps but very little snow - which is unusual.

  11. Waking Isabel looks interesting! Yes on the weather. We're having a lot of that down here in the South, too. We went from 2 to 71 and back to 15 in about a week. It's crazy. Happy reading this week!

  13. Your weather sounds too cold for me. I would huddle inside... with lots of books of course.
Your books are new to me. I especially like the looks of Cathadeus. I hope you like it and the others. Stay warm and Happy Reading!

    1. I usually get in a slump if I have too much on my mind and need a break. You'll get your groove back I'm sure because you love reading too much!

  15. Enjoy your new books! I am ready for winter to be over, although thankfully we don't get as cold here as you do.

  16. ENJOY your books...WAKING ISABELLA looks good. LOVE the cover.

  17. Our weather has been similar to yours. I'm ready for Spring which is only 3 months off here in Minnesota. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  18. Hi Laura,

It's funny how the grass always looks greener on someone else's lawn, isn't it? We are totally convinced that our country has the worst record for road repairs anywhere and that our potholes are much bigger than anyone else's!

Our weather is also as changeable as your own from day to day almost, although of course not quite so extreme in temperature. Tomorrow we are supposed to be getting the residue of the last East Coast storm crossing the Atlantic and hitting us. Cold, wet and windy is going to be the order of things, although thankfully Scotland will be soaking up most of the snow.

You have a couple of good books for review, although I am not so sure that the cover of 'Waking Isabella' really gels with the premise, but that is just a personal opinion and it does fit beautifully with the author's previous book 'Dreaming Sophia'

Thanks for sharing and Happy Reading :)
