Sunday Post, Mailbox Monday and It's Monday What Are You Reading? Nov 13 Edition

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

So it's cold. I've had to convince my kids that it's TIME to start wearing winter coats although they insist it's not winter yet. Forget hat and gloves.

So I've not worn my contact lenses in almost a month. That eye infection I spoke about a few weeks ago just persisted and I finally got stronger meds. I was loath to wear my glasses in public because I grew up in the 70s and 80s when you were called "four-eyes" for wearing glasses, but I discovered that wearing glasses today is actually cool and that some young ones get fake glasses just to get that "look". I got so many compliments on my glasses that now I really don't mind wearing them out in public. Who would have thought....

  1. That's funny that you say that about glasses, I was the same way. Hated wearing them, wore my contacts everywhere. Then in the hospital recently I left my contacts out for about a week, wore my glasses, and actually got compliments on the old ten years plus old frames I had lol. Who would have known? Although my contacts are back in most of the time now. :)

Saving Shadow looks mysterious and Minimalist Living has me curious too!

    1. I know right! I can't wait to go back to my contacts but I have to say it hasn't been too bad wearing my glasses all the time.

  2. Ah, the eyeglasses that were available when I was young were pretty unattractive, IMO, but now there are definitely some nice ones. I'm enjoying the look of them now.

Your books look tempting, especially Strings. Enjoy...and thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. I started needing reading glasses last year. It was hard to accept because although my far vision was bad, my close-up vision was sharp. Not anymore!

  4. I've always worn glasses, because didn't fancy contact lenses. You can sure get some cool frames these days but I only have one pair and they aren't fancy - cost!! Enjoy those books they look like fun and I hope that eye heals soon.

  5. Saving Shadow and The Beast both look good to me.
I hear you on the glasses. I have been very nearsighted all my life; legally blind without correction. I finally got contacts when I was in my teens to replace my four eye, coke bottle glasses. My grandchildren like their glasses now.
I do hope the infection clears up soon for you.
    Enjoy snuggling in and reading!

    1. Martha, I'm in the same boat, also got my contacts in my teens. But I think I wear them too much!

  6. Oh, getting my daughter to wear her coat is an on-going battle. I've decided it's all the fault of "Frozen." Ever since Elsa and her "the cold never bothered me anyway" attitude, my daughter seems to be on a quest to freeze to death!

    1. That's hilarious! But yeah...I can see that. And kids do not feel the cold like we do. But when it's cold, it's cold!

  7. Oh man I can't even find my glasses! And I've got my eye on that Minimalist Living book. Having recently moved into a new house, I'm trying not to accumulate too much stuff / knickknacks and kind of failing.

    1. Moving into a new place is the perfect time to get rid of unnecessary stuff. Go for it, girl!

  8. I hope your eye clears up. I started wearing glasses I think in my 40s. I didn't trust myself w/contacts. I smudge my glasses a lot. Last time I got transition titanium (super light) frames. I don't take them off as much now so they stay clearer. The cover of CAST is pretty. I bet it would make a lovely coffee table book.

    1. It's hard not to smudge glasses. I now have a cleaner handy and a good cloth to that the glasses are sparkling clear when I clean then. CAST is a lovely book.

  9. I grew up in the 70s but have always worn glasses (all my siblings went the contacts route - as well as my kids). I hope your eyes are back to good health very soon. Enjoy your reading this week!

  10. I've worn glasses since the age of eight but never got teased! so I do not feel awkward about it at all. I hope your eyes improve soon.

  11. Saving Shadow sounds great! I have worn glasses most of the time since I was ten. I don't like the way my face looks like without them now; they are so much a part of my identity. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  12. Hope the new meds help kick the infection so you can choose what to wear every day! I always wear my contacts, but did finally get an updated pair of frames!

  13. Enjoy your books. I actually prefer glasses to contacts - they hide the dark circles under my eyes at least a little.

  14. I can't remember a time I didn't have to wear glasses! I bet they look good on you. :) Enjoy your books!

  15. I'm glad you are wearing your glasses.

I stopped wearing contacts about 20 some years ago. LOL!!

I am sure you look beautiful as always in your glasses.

Have a great week, and tell your children it isn't shorts weather any more. :)

  16. I have the same feelings about glasses. If an eye was having a problem, I would walk around with one contact lens rather than wear glasses. I'm getting better about that now!

The minimalist living book is needed in my house too. Several decades of clutter need to go!
