Sunday Post, Mailbox Monday and It's Monday What Are You Reading? May 8 Edition

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I had an emotional weekend. Went to the funeral of a friend on Saturday and visited another friend on Sunday who has bi-polar and is in hospital. It made for a very reflective weekend. It's good to remember all the good things in our life and to share our time and compassion with others.

Are we already in the second week of May? I miss the sun. We have been getting a heavy amount of rain that has raised our river water levels. Montreal is an island, so there has been flooding in western parts of the city that are close to the water. In some areas it's so bad that homeowners are moving around the streets with boats. Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Mailbox Monday now has a permanent home on its blog. Link up to share your MM.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

What I read and/or featured last week:

This book is introspective and reflective. It doesn't overwhelm but it does teach you a lot about yourself if you take the time to reflect.

Although I appreciated reading about her family experiences, I cannot say that this book was inspirational. Most of what I read was common sense, a little superficial, and felt more like a memoir of a mom who is proud of her parental achievements.

Although this is late middle-grade/YA fiction, I was carried away by Sofia and her story. This book made me burst into laughter and it made me burst into tears. I simply loved this one!

I've posted three reviews of children's books that celebrate discovery and playing outdoors.
I love good kidlit!

Reading Now:

I saw this one for $0.99 and liked the description so I started reading it right away. I was in the mood for a dual timeline escapism kind of book!

Hope you all have a great reading week.

  2. You had a heavy weekend even though it was a very giving one. I adore the cover of The Grumpy Crocodile, maybe because I felt (although didn't show) grumpy with my Dad today!! Sometime a picture is great!

  12. So sorry to hear about both your friends! And I hope your friend in the hospital gets better... and the flooding sounds awful. Can't even imagine having to get around in boats...and all the property damage and losses.

The secret of Altamura looks interesting, and I LOVE that cover of Speed of Life. It's so bright and sunny...
