Sunday Post, Mailbox Monday and It's Monday What Are You Reading? May 1st Edition

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I can't believe May is here! This is a special month for me. My hubby and I are celebrating 25 years on the 23rd and then the week after I'm off to BEA.  But this week is Children's Book Week, so I'll be focusing on some great kidlit. Watch for my reviews of some awesome children, middle grade and YA books.

Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Mailbox Monday now has a permanent home on its blog. Link up to share your MM.

Three books in my mailbox:

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

What I read and/or featured last week:

I will be reviewing this book for June. It's getting some rave reviews and I can't wait to read it!

Before reading this book I had no idea who Assata Shakur was. Why was she on the FBI's list of Most Wanted Terrorists and what had she done to get there? This was a sobering book because it shows the struggle of the black community against prejudice and racism.

Road Signs that Say West by Sylvia Gunnery (Review)
This was okay. The ending left me unsatisfied. I liked that the road trip spanned from the East coast of Canada to the West with a stop over in my city of Montreal.

Reading Now:

I'm loving this one! It's been on my TBR shelf for a while
and I should have picked it up sooner.

Hope you all have a great reading week.

  2. Happy anniversary!! And Duels & Deception looks fun. I've been seeing a few reviews of that one and they've been positive. Road Signs That Say West has a nice itinerary but sorry to hear it was a bit lackluster at the end.

    Have a super week!

  3. Counted With the Stars sounds like a really interesting read, had a peek at it on GR. What a wonderful month you have ahead of you.

  4. I have Road Signs That Say West on my wish list. Despite the mixed reviews I've read, it's relevant to my project.

Saturday was my the junior to cadette bridging ceremony in San Francisco. My daughter and I are sore and sunburnt from our adventure but we had fun. Come see what I'm reading.

  8. You have a lot to look forward to this month....enjoy! Congrats on 25 years....and I like the look of Road Signs that Say West.

Enjoy the kidlit, too. Some of my favorite children's books were discovered when I took a course in my junior year of college...and bought several of them to read to my children later on.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
