First Book of the Year 2017

The lovely Sheila at Book Journey is once again hosting First Book of the Year and this is the fourth year I participate. It's a meme where we share the first book we will be reading in 2017. If you head on over to Sheila's blog she has a cool montage of all those participating. Here is the pic of me with the book I chose to read:

This year I decided to start my year with The Fire by Night by Teresa Messineo. It's historical fiction, a genre I love. The author spent seven years researching the history behind her first novel. I'm intrigued. It's about two American military nurses during World War II. I have begun my research for my second novel, which hopefully won't take that long! It will be based on my parent's family history and love story.

My review for The Fire by Night will be up later this month on January 25.

So what is your first book of the year?

  15. This is new to me but I love the look of the cover and I adore a World War 2 setting - especially if it's about an aspect I don't know much about. I will have to keep my eye out for this one.

    1. I love the cover too and the WWII setting. As much as I dread that war is involved I cannot help but want to know the stories of those who lived it.
