Mailbox Monday (7)

Ah...when we see books in the mailbox, the other envelopes of bills don't seem that bad. Well, what did I receive in my mailbox last week? Two books. By the way, this meme is hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page. You should check out her blog and see what others have received and to play along.

Saffron Dreams by Shaila Abdullah  From the darkest hour of American history emerges a mesmerizing tale of tender love, a life interrupted, and faith recovered. Arissa Illahi, a Muslim artist and writer, discovers in a single moment that no matter how carefully you map your life, it is life itself that chooses your destiny. After her husband's death in the collapse of the World Trade Center, the discovery of his manuscript marks Arissa's reconnection to life. Her unborn son and the unfinished novel fuse in her mind into one life-defining project that becomes, at once, the struggle for her emotional survival and the redemption of her race. Saffron Dreams is a novel about our ever evolving identities and the events and places that shape them. It reminds us that in the midst of tragedy, our dreams can become a lasting legacy.

Ferdinand Uses the Potty: An Empowering Toilet Training Tale by Jay Tucker
Ferdinand the Frog awakens one night to a very damp realization. Something doesn't feel right in his bed at all! What can the little guy do to fix the situation? Luckily for Ferdinand, he has a friend who has experienced the same thing. Ferdinand learns that potty training is all about confidence. There seems to be one huge obstacle, however. Ferdinand is afraid of the sound the toilet makes when it's flushed. In Ferdinand Uses the Potty, by Jay Tucker, our yellow frog friend faces his fear and he will encourage your child to do the same! Ferdinand Uses the Potty is wonderfully illustrated by award winning artist, D.E. West.
