This is a beautiful book that promotes a big message: peace. It is a great introduction to children to learn about respect and love of neighbor.

Peace. Such a simple word; a state that we all need, yet is elusive for so many of us because of world conditions, wars, prejudices, injustices, and lack of respect. But we have the personal freedom to seek it, first within ourselves, then within our families, communities and the world.
This is the Earth is a beautiful book, both because of its message and its bold and vibrant illustrations that speak just as loudly as the text. It's a book that, with simple language, promotes a big message. Although a children's book, it is not simplistic in its narrative but filled with statements that teach respect, both for humans and the planet, diversity in cultures, sharing, compassion, and love.
I have a brain
and so do you.
You don't have to think what I think.
You don't have to do what I do.
I absolutely loved this book and its illustrations. Children of various cultures and nationalities are portrayed, and there is even a child in a wheelchair. The book is colorful and full of details that young children will delight in. Parents can easily use the illustrations to continue the conversation of respect for nature and others that are portrayed on every page.
This is the Earth is a must for the classroom or home library. It is an excellent teaching tool that is timely and much needed to keep promoting the message of peace and agape love.

As a therapist, attorney, author, and CEO of Make A Way Media, Deedee Cummings is passionate about passing down the life lessons that were instilled in her mother, Andrea Mast Pecchioni, who passed away in 2003 from breast cancer. All ten of Cummings’ diverse picture books, poetry books, and workbooks are not only fun for kids and adults to read, they also work to teach coping skills, reinforce the universal message of love, encourage mindfulness, and facilitate inclusion for all.
Cummings has spent more than two decades working within the family therapy and support field and much of her writing shares her experiences of working with kids in therapeutic foster care. As a result, her catalogs of published books for kids are filled with positive, hopeful messages. Using therapeutic techniques in her stories to teach coping skills, Cummings also strives to lessen the stigma that some people feel when it comes to receiving mental health assistance.
