Bloggiesta Wrap-Up

I had high goals for Bloggiesta, and although I did not achieve them all, I got started.

Here is what I was working on:
  • Update my Reviews by Title page (started)
I made a list of all the books I reviewed since I started this blog (since 2009) and have started to check off those which are listed in my Reviews by Title page. Even though I didn't finish this task, just having that list makes it easy to keep track and to keep updating.
  • Update my Reviews by Author page (didn't do)
Like I mentioned above, I now I have the list of all books read and I can get started on this too.
  • Update my Books Read in 2012 page (done!)
  • Update challenge lists and link posts with hosts (done!)
  • Write up my post for BBW (done!)
  • Write up my three pending reviews (done!)

I took stock of my participation in the 10 challenges I decided to take on in 2012, three of which I am hosting. I've completed only two so far and almost finished with a few, but I am lagging behind in others. This inventory has made me reflect and come up with two solutions:

  • I'm reserving November and December to catch up so that I finally get to read the books I really want (that's partly why I'm doing the challenges, right?), and in 2013 I'm not going to participate in as many challenges.
  • I'm going to be accepting less review books from now and in 2013 so I could catch up on all the wonderful books on my bookshelf and e-reader that I absolutely want to read!!
I'm now looking forward to the next Bloggiesta in March 2013. The organizers have created a blog specifically for Bloggiesta so we can keep up with all the challenges and as a resource for all the great articles bloggers have written on tips to maintain and enhance blogging.

Thanks for reading my blog!

It's Bloggiesta Time!

Although I'm late coming into this, I still want to participate because my blog needs a fall tune-up! Yup! I need to spend some time working on it. Since my schedule is always busy, even if I could just devote a couple of hours to it, I'll be happy.

Bloggiesta runs from Sept 28 to 30th. It was originally created nearly four years ago by Natasha of Maw Books and is now co-hosted by the following blogs: There's a Book and It’s All About Books. Bloggiesta is an opportunity to cross those nagging items off of your to-do list and improve your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing.

And it's not too late to join. Sign up here and participate to learn blog tips on how to smoothly run your blog. You'll also meet seasoned bloggers who can teach us a few things about running a successful blog.

Here is what I am working on:

  • Update my Reviews by Title page
  • Update my Reviews by Author page
  • Update my Books Read in 2012 page
  • Update challenge lists and link posts with hosts
  • Write up my post for BBW
  • Write up my three pending reviews
If I can do all of this I will be thrilled! Are you planning to spend some time sprucing your blog?

Happy Bloggiesta to all participants!

Bloggiesta: The Finish Line

I got much accomplished with Bloggiesta and I want to thank Natasha from Maw Book Blog and all the other bloggers who helped her organize this event. This is what I got accomplished:

  • Clean up linkbar
  • Edit my About Us page, review policy, disclosure policy
  • Organize labels
  • Create page of book reviews by title (fully updated!)
  • Create page of book reviews by author (not yet fully updated)
  • Improve blog template by cleaning up sidebars, removing old pics, etc. (I'm half-way there)
  • Update challenge lists and link posts with hosts
  • Prepare blog posts for future reviews
  • Remove old posts, such as old giveaways and winner announcements
I also participated in these mini-challenges:
  • Blogging goals
  • Give a lending hand - I helped Linda of Seven Hills with her question on headers
  • Email best practices and solutions
  • 10 Things bloggers should not do
I spent a total of 12 hours between Friday and Sat but then Sunday morning I woke up with a bad case of carpel tunnel syndrome. I had to stay off the computer. I also have another blog, NouveauWriter, of which I did more planning of future things to change since I did not have time to actually make all the  changes. That's the great thing about Bloggiesta. You can continue working on all the things you still want to change and have learned about. Thanks to everyone for your support!

Bloggiesta Time!

It's time to start the Bloggiesta! Some of you may be asking what is Bloggiesta? In short, it’s a blogging marathon hosted by Maw Books Blog.  It runs from January 21-23. It's an opportunity to cross those nagging items off of your to-do list and improve your blog while in the good company of other awesome bloggers doing the same thing. Our mascot Pedro stands for: Plan. Edit. Develop. Review. Organize.

I have designated January as my uncluttering and organizing month--my house, my bookshelf and my blogs. That's why I love the idea of Bloggiesta, although this is my first time participating. Here is what I am working on:
  • Clean up linkbar
  • Edit my About Us page, review policy, disclosure policy
  • Organize labels
  • Create page of book reviews by title (fully updated!)
  • Create page of book reviews by author (not yet fully updated)
  • Improve blog template by cleaning up sidebars, removing old pics, etc.
  • Update challenge lists and link posts with hosts
  • Prepare blog posts for future reviews
  • Remove old posts, such as old giveaways and winner announcements
Since I am also owner of another blog, NouveauWriter, which is participating in Bloggiesta as well, I do not want to overwhelm myself. Once I get started though, I know I will have the incentive to do more even after the Bloggiesta is finished. My overall goal is to have a clean, uncluttered look with easy navigation for my readers to find the info they came looking for.

Happy Bloggiesta to all participants!
