How to be transported to Italy...

If you're looking for a way to be transported to Italy then join me in the I Love Italy Reading Challenge 2012 that I am hosting right here on Library of Clean Reads. Do you want to learn more about Italy and its people? Putting together this challenge made me discover the plethora of reading material about Italy, whether it's a novel set in Italy or a book with an Italian theme.

I have decided to read the Arrivederci Italia level of 7 to 9 books. These are the books I plan to read but I may add or change this list.

  1. Waterfall by  Lisa T. Bergren
  2. Cascade by  Lisa T. Bergren
  3. Torrent by  Lisa T. Bergren
  4. The Food of Love by Anthony Capella
  5. The Last Ember by Daniel Levin
  6. Young Michelangelo by John T. Spike
  7. O, Juliet by Robin Maxwell

I Love Italy Reading Challenge 2012 - Sign Up

Photobucket

Last year I participated in Italy in Books Reading Challenge hosted by Book After Book, and I enjoyed discovering books with Italy as its theme or setting. When I saw that this challenge was no longer going to be hosted I decided to do it, just because I want to challenge myself to read more books that have some Italian connection. Again, I am keeping the rules and levels simple so that if some of you just want to read one book and fall in love with Italy in some way, then that would be worth it, no? Won't you join me?

Rules:
  • Challenge runs from January 1, 2012 to December 31st, 2012. You can join anytime.
  • Books from other challenges count as long as they are set in Italy, written by an Italian author or about Italy or an Italian person.
  • Books can be children's, middle-grade, YA and adult fiction and non-fiction.
  • Write a post and link it below including the URL to that sign-up post.
Levels:
  • Ciao Italia: 1 to 3 books.
  • Bella Italia: 4 to 6 books.
  • Arrivederci Italia: 7 to 9 books
  • Sempre Italia: 10 to 12 books.
Linking your reviews is optional but I encourage it so that we can discover what books you've read. Here is the Link Review Page. Not sure what to read? Check this list from Amazon.com. You can choose the genre by clicking on the left-hand side. Here is a list from Goodreads of books set in Italy. Hope you join us!

Read Dystopia Challenge 2012

I am once again participating in the Read Dystopia Challenge because there are several books in this genre on my bookshelf that I really want to read. There are several Dystopian challenges being hosted out there, but I decided to join with Sheila of Book Journey because she is doing it to discover dystopian reads since she read them last year and came to like them. Sounds just like me! I'm still a newbie in reading this genre. I've decided to read at the second level: 4-6 books.

The challenge runs from January 1, 2012 to Dec 31st 2012 and has 4 levels. To join, visit the Read Dystopia Challenge sign up page.

Here are the books I plan to read for this challenge:

  1. Divergent by Veronica Roth
  2. Wither by Lauren Destefano
  3. The Maze Runner by James Dashner
  4. The Water Wars by Cameron Stracher
  5. Matched by Ally Condie
  6. Uglies by Scott Westerfield

Mystery and Suspense Reading Challenge 2012

I have been wanting to read more thrillers and suspense novels, several of which are sitting on my bookshelf. I think this challenge will motivate me to read them. Here are the details:

• Timeline: 01 Jan 2012 - 31 Dec 2012
• Rules: To read TWELVE (12) mystery & suspense novels in 2012 (12 is the minimum but you can read more if you wish!)
• You don't have to select your books ahead of time, you can just add them as you go. Also if you do list them upfront you can change them, nothing is set in stone! The books you choose can crossover into other challenges you have on the go.
• You can join at anytime. All books read in 2012 count towards the challenge regardless of when you sign up.
• At the beginning of Jan 2012, you will find a link to specific month to add your reviews.
• Audiobooks do not count, but all other formats are accepted.
• You can choose from the numerous sub-genres of mystery and suspense.
