Sunday Post, Sunday Salon, Mailbox Monday and It's Monday What Are You Reading? Sept 28 Edition

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share our news. A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Sunday Salon hosted by Readerbuzz is simply a place for us to link up and to share what we have been doing during the week. Sunday Salon is a great way to visit other blogs and join in the conversations going on there.

This was a quiet work week, and I enjoyed the warm weather this weekend. Sunny and hot so back to shorts. But it will undoubtedly cool off by the end of the week. I watched Enola Holmes and thought it was a fun movie. I also watched Bel Canto. I had read the book years ago and have been meaning to watch the movie. Julianne Moore was excellent in her role but the movie failed to capture the emotions from the relationships that are forges between the guerilla soldiers and the kidnapped group. It should have been longer and more drawn out.

I also got me some happy books this week. Gearing up for the tough times ahead.

Hope you are all well. Stay safe and take care of each other.

Mailbox Monday Edition

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week. Mailbox Monday now has a permanent home on its blog. Link up to share your MM.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organize yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever-growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

What I reviewed and/or featured last week:

I wish I had time to read these excellent MG books set during WWII

This is the fourth book in the Henrietta and Inspector Howard series. As expected, this was another great audiobook listen for me!

  2. I am very interested in the Enola Holmes movie (funny, but I didn't realize it was a movie...thought it was a series). My husband loves mysteries, and I think he will like this one.

I see that you are stocking up on happy books. Me, too. I'm not avoiding the tough reads, but I am focusing on some good combination that gives me enough strength to push on. I have been working my way through a simple drawing book most of this year, and that has given me something each day to look forward to. I also made a list of recommended mood-boosting books and I draw on that to choose my reads.

I hope you have a good week.

    1. The books of Enola Holmes are a series and I would have loved for the movie to be the beginning of a series too!

  3. Too bad about the Bel Canto film. I enjoyed the book years ago and didn't know a film had been made. I hope you enjoy The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek as much as I did.

  5. I just bought some shorts in preparation for the approaching summer, I should probably shave my legs too. :)

I’m planning to watch Enola Holmes soon.

Wishing you a great reading week

  6. I've found that movies rarely capture all the emotion that I feel when I read a book. I'm going to look up Affirm Your life right now.... Thanks for sharing! I just finished reading Ruth Ware's latest novel, One by One. It was another thriller for sure!

    1. I agree, most times movies don't do the books justice. There are exceptions but for the most part I prefer reading the book.

  11. I've caught a little cold I think from the weather change (I often catch something when the weather cools off) so keeping some warm weather around for a while sounds good to me too! Unfortunately it's probably not going to happen. :) Hope yours holds on for a few more days anyway. Be well this week!

  13. I definitely like your getting happy books. Freedom Lessons does sounds interesting. It brought to mind the movie Conrack which was based on Pat Conroy's book The Water is Wide.
Our temperature went down to 58 tonight so cooler days are definitely on the way.
Have a good week and Happy Reading!
