The first time I learned of marketing expert and guru Penny C. Sansevieri was when I was a new author in 2008 and was doing research on how to promote my own book. I then read Penny's Red Hot Internet Publicity which taught me so much about book marketing, tons actually. I simply loved it!
That book had been eye-opening for me. This time, I've dug into her revised edition and power pack bundled books on how to get sales and reviews on Amazon. And this time, she demystified Amazon for me, its algorithm and how to find the right keywords and categories for a book.
If you're an author or are planning to release a book and you still don't know much about Amazon, which, whether you like it or not, is where most of your sales will happen, you need to get this book. You need to use it as an essential tool to understand how to best use Amazon to sell your book.
For me this book was both informative as an author and as a virtual book tour coordinator who works with authors who want to sell their books, especially on Amazon. As a book blogger, it made me realize how important it is for me to cross-post my reviews on Amazon.
So what does Penny cover in these two books? In the first one, it's all about understanding how Amazon works. She states, "Amazon is less of a store and more of a search engine." Understanding this simple but profound statement will make you understand why your book's title, keywords and categories matter. And Penny explains in details how to find the right ones.
In the second book, it's all about getting reviews. This is what I do for a living, so I can say that Penny's advice was spot on. There was nothing new in this section for me, but for authors looking to get reviews, the advice is very good. I can tell you that some publicists from the big NY publishing houses could learn a few things from this book about how to send out a good pitch as can self-published authors who don't do their research. And with reviews getting harder and harder to obtain, authors cannot afford not to know this stuff.
The Kindle version is now selling at $3.05 and the paperback at $6.99. At those inexpensive prices, you can learn valuable and essential information that can help you get your book off to a good start and selling on Amazon. Highly recommended as an excellent resource to add to any author or book marketer's library.
Note: This book is rated G.
