The historical aspect of this story was great and I loved how the author built around the story of Romeo and Juliet and tied it in with present day characters. I felt the historical story was better developed than the one set in the present and felt some present day scenes were superfluous. The romance between Julietta and Romeo was also better developed than the one between Julie and Alessandro.
But apart from this, I did enjoy this book a lot. This was a suspenseful tale with lots of twists and turns, spunky women characters, detailed history and a beautiful setting. It was the perfect escape novel.
