The lovely Sheila at Book Journey is once again hosting First Book of the Year and this is the third year I participate. It's a meme where we share the first book we will be reading in 2016. I've heard so many good things about All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. The copy I am holding is the copy I bought for a friend of mine when the book was just published. I picked it up at Costco, read the back cover and thought, "This sounds amazing." I was right because it then went on to win the Pulitzer Prize and the Goodreads Choice Award for 2014.
So I have been wanting to read this one for a long time. It's a perfect way to treat myself on this first day of 2016. I know this is going to be a great reading year. I hope you all have a great book to start your year with!
We just read this one for book club - well I should say they did... I have not read many books the last couple of months. It made for good discussion.

DeleteLoved this book. Maybe not so much when I started reading, but later on as I began to understand the "message" underlying the story line I couldn't put it down. Right now, I'm reading Celebrity Obsession and Sing Them Home. One of these should be familiar to you. :)
