My Review:

Two weeks ago I reviewed the print version of Dawn of Destiny, a military sci-fi action adventure story about alien invasion and a crew of men and women commissioned to protect the Earth. You can read my review here.
This time I was given the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version. Since I had already read the book, I wasn't sure how much more the audiobook was going to add to what I already knew of the story. Boy, was I wrong! This audiobook truly impressed me. It was a full cast audio with a full soundtrack. It added an emotional element to the experience of reading the novel and had me fully engaged.

The first time I listened to a full cast audiobook was in the 1990s when Out of Africa was broadcast on the radio. It was an amazing experience for me and I never heard another one that matched that experience until now.
The quality of production came across as very professional. The characters' voices were easily distinguishable from the many performers and well chosen for the roles. One did not have to be told when Colonel Brent Lilan was talking. I found the background score and sound effects to my liking and perfect for the theme of the book. The effects did not overpower the voices but added to the suspense and mood of the scenes. Narration was well done. As some scenes became suspenseful, the narrator's voice heightened and this added to the suspense, which for me was excellent. Even after putting the audiobook down for a day, I was able to get back into the scene almost instantly.
The Dawn of Destiny audiobook goes to show how sometimes a book can be more enjoyable to listen to than to read. This was the case for me. The book was easily adaptable for audio recording. Not all books are. Actually, the audiobook brought out the full suspense and emotionally-charged scenes of the book. I can understand why this audiobook won the New Apple Book Awards Audiobook of the Year.
If you like listening to audiobooks, or if you like action-adventure sci-fi movies or games, you shouldn't miss this one. It's really worth all 10 hours of the listening experience.

Born and raised in Cajun country, Lee Stephen spent his childhood paddling pirogues through the marshes of South Louisiana. When he wasn't catching bullfrogs or playing with alligators in the bathtub (both true), he was escaping to the world of the imagination, creating worlds in his mind filled with strange creatures and epic journeys. This hasn't stopped.
Now a resident of Luling, Louisiana, Lee spends time every day delving into the world of Epic, the science-fiction series that has come to define him as a writer and producer. Alongside his wife, Lindsey, their son, Levi, and their dog, Jake, Lee has made it a mission to create a series that is unique in its genre—one unafraid to address the human condition while staying grounded in elements of faith.
In addition to writing, Lee works full-time for the Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness. He has also spent time as a church deacon, guitar hobbyist, and New Orleans Saints season ticket holder. He is a graduate of Louisiana College in Pineville.
