The Shelf Discovery Challenge Wrap-Up

So how did I do with The Shelf Discovery Challenge hosted by Booking Mama?

The challenge was based on the book by Lizzie Skurnick called Shelf Discovery: The Teen Classics we Never Stopped Reading. It ran for six months (November 1, 2009 - April 30, 2010) and we had to pick out six books we wanted to read that were listed in Skurnick's book.

These are the books I initially picked:
1.  Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume
2.  Island of the Blue Dolphin by Scott ODell
3.  A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
4.  Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson
5.  From The Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg
6.  Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder

And these are the books I actually read:
1. Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume
2. Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
3. Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade by Barthe DeClements
4. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle (Did not finish)
5. Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder (Did not review)
6. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson

As you can see I actually only read five books because I did not finish A Wrinkle in Time. I read about half of it with my daughter and then we abandoned it. I like the fantasy genre, but my daughter and I couldn't get into this one.

I loved doing this challenge because it brought back childhood memories. My daughter now loves The Little House Series and we are reading the 3rd book in this series. I will definitely join again in the fall because there are so many of the books on the list I wanted to read together with my daughter but didn't have time to. Thanks Booking Mama for hosting this wonderful challenge!
