So I missed posting these memes last week. My son was sick with painful stomach pain, nausea, and a migraine. After the 4th day, we thought he might have appendicitis and spent the day in ER at the Children's Hospital. Turns out several other teens showed up with the same symptoms. Some sort of virus going around that mimicked the symptoms similar to appendicitis. Lasted 7 days. Poor kid!
Montreal is going through a very unusual heat wave. Temps in the 80s and 90s (26 to 32 degrees Celcius) when we usually have temps in the 50s and 60s. We are on our third week. We barely had any heat this summer and it decides to show up now! I'm not complaining. The heat and sunny days are wonderful. Snow is just around the corner for us...

For review:
Tribal Affairs by Matt Dallmann
A YA fantasy fiction with a genie! And a touch of romance.
The Fabergé Entanglement by Lesley Meryn & Elle Brookes
Romantic suspense. I look forward to digging into this one.
First Crush, Last Love by Elizabeth McKenna
It's been a while since I read a straight up romance novel.
The Black Market Concierge by Barry Oberholzer
A memoir that covers the author's former life in international espionage. I've been wanting to read this one ever since the author approached me a year ago.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. It's a great post to organise yourself. It's an opportunity to visit and comment, and er... add to that ever growing TBR pile! So welcome in everyone. This meme started with J Kaye's Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date.

Oh, how terrible that your son was sick with something that lasted that long. It's good that you were able to get a diagnosis.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about The Black Market Concierge. Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I was relieved it wasn't appendicitis!
DeleteYour poor son - a week like that sounds awful. I'm glad he's on the mend.
ReplyDeleteIt's been really warm and humid here too. I love the warm but can do without the humidity.
Enjoy your new books!
It was awful to have continuous stomach pain and no appetite. He lost weight too.
DeleteIt's been hot here too although this past week it got in the mid 90's. It's supposed to drop like twenty degrees on Wednesday though. I know what you mean about summer- it was almost hotter last week than we got all summer!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the virus! That does sound nasty.
Hope your week ahead is a good one.
Sounds like we have the same weather.:-)
DeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that your son is on the mend now, it must have been so worrying until you were able to get a diagnosis. There are lots of strange bugs going around already this year, so I hope we aren't in for too bad a winter of sickness!
Whilst not probably a book for me to actually read, I love the cover art of 'The Winner' and the premise is quite unique and interesting, so I hope that you are enjoying it so far :)
Yvonne
Yes, this was a strange bug. First time any of my kids experienced this kind of stomach pain. I love the cover of The Winner too and the book is good too!
DeleteAlways a worry when our kids are sick. I'm so glad your son is feeling better. I hope you enjoy a lovely autumn before the cold rushes in!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your son is feeling better. We are having a return to summer here too. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteGlad your son is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteWe had NO heat at all in August...it was in the 50's and 60's. The heat here now, but I love it. :)
Love the cover on THE WINNER. I hope it is a "winner."

ReplyDeleteSorry your son was sick. We had a terrible heatwave here about two weeks ago. It's supposed to heat up again this weekend. I wish it would just get on with the fall temperatures and rain. Come see what I'm reading
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you had that scare with your son but I am glad he is doing better.
