This second installment of the Memory House centers on Ophelia, Annie, Oliver and Memory House. It picks up where the first left off – Annie and Oliver's wedding day. They set off on their honeymoon to New York City when an unexpected event causes them to return to Memory House. As Ophelia battles with health issues and Annie makes healing teas for her their friendship and love grows ever stronger. Annie and Oliver want to care for their dear 90-year-old friend, but Ophelia has different ideas.

Following a stint in rehab, during which she has met friends of her own age she decides to move into a senior's apartment. Decisions have to be made about Memory House, Ophelia's memories of Edward that are wrapped up in the house and not disappointing Annie. This novel is as much about the changes in Ophelia's life as it is Annie and Oliver's. Annie too has her challenges as her beloved husband, Oliver, faces serious health issues. She needs to help Oliver find that one special memory to save his life.

The author has an amazing ability to not only make her characters come alive, but also to write touching love stories, such as the one between Ophelia and Edward. Though he has been gone 60 years, Ophelia can still catch the smell of his cologne on their old bed mattress! Their happiest times were spent as they looked at the starts from their bed in the loft. It's also Annie's favourite place and the reader can imagine it.

The plot is creative, the writing is good. For example, note this comment about Oliver. "He (Oliver) is serious-minded and carries responsibilities like a briefcase shackled to his arm."

The Loft explores the nature of friendship and the healing power of love, plus just enough tension to keep the story suspenseful. It doesn't disappoint.

About the author:

"Storytelling is in my blood," Crosby laughingly admits. "My mom was not a writer, but she was a captivating storyteller, so I find myself using. It's and pieces of her voice in most everything I write." It is the wit and wisdom of that Southern Mama Crosby brings to her works of fiction; the result is a delightful blend of humor, mystery and romance along with a cast of quirky characters who will steal your heart away. Her work was first recognized in 2006 when she received The National League of American Pen Women Award for a then unpublished manuscript. She has since gone on to win nineteen awards for her work; these include: The Royal Palm Literary Award, the FPA President's Book Award Gold Medal, Reader's Favorite Award Gold Medal, and the Reviewer's Choice Award.

Note: This book is rated G.
