The Author's Guide to Planning Book Events by Carol Hoenig (Rated: C)
If you are a new author, and especially a self-published author, this book is for you. I personally referred to it countless times as I prepared and learned how to market my book.
It is an easy reference with "step-by-step instructions for planning, organizing—and enjoying—publication and book-signing events." As the back cover states, the author shows us "how to :
- Find and choose the perfect venue
- Plan an event for optimum results
- Build on each success to reach more readers".
The book is divided into three parts that cover the planning stages before you publish, once your book is published and long after your book has been out.
I truly enjoyed Carol Hoenig's voice as I carefully read and took notes. Her experience as an event specialist comes through with anecdotes of her work with hundreds of successful authors. This book made me very excited about getting my book published, and it gave me great ideas for book events by thinking "outside the box".
If you're looking for an easy-to-read resource with the right tips and techniques to prepare you to market your book through events, look no further.
